Addie’s, a popular Rockville Pike restaurant that closed almost four years ago, is coming back next week.
The restaurant will open Aug. 22 in its new Park Potomac location, Black Restaurant Group, which operates Addie’s, announced Tuesday.
The opening marks a new era for Addie’s, which first opened in North Bethesda in 1995 and built up a local following before the building’s deteriorating condition led its owners to close the restaurant in 2013.
Since the closing, owner Jeff Black maintained that the restaurant would reopen, somewhere in the Washington, D.C., area or near its original location in North Bethesda. In April 2016, he settled on a 4,000-square-foot space in Park Potomac, a development in Potomac along Interstate 270.
The new iteration of Addie’s—at 12435 Park Potomac Ave.—aims to combine the legacy of the original location with a reinvented look and new menu items, according to a press release. The restaurant will serve its signature Addie’s Mussels and Addie’s Rolls along with other seasonal seafood—including a seafood tower with 20 options of crab, oyster and more dishes—and locally sourced produce.
Named after Black’s grandmother, the restaurant is meant to “feel as welcoming as Grandma Addie’s home,” according to the press release. An entranceway leads to a foyer with large windows and the interior splits into a number of smaller rooms. The inside also includes a 20-seat bar and a six-seat oyster bar. An outdoor patio has a fountain and more seating.
Addie’s will take on Dane Sewlall as executive chef and Doug Doyle as general manager, both of whom have previously worked with Black Restaurant Group, according to the company. The group runs several restaurants in the region, including Black’s Bar & Kitchen in Bethesda. Addie’s was the first Black Restaurant Group restaurant to open.
Addie’s will offer sandwiches and salads for lunch on weekdays. It will be open for dinner every day and for brunch on Sundays.
