Updated: 11:30 a.m. Monday:

CAVA, a fast-casual Mediterranean style national restaurant chain, will host a job fair from 9 to 11 a.m. at two CAVA locations Tuesday exclusively for Taylor Gourmet employees who suddenly learned that all of the gourmet sandwich shop locations would be closed by Sept. 23.

“We’re happy to help support Taylor Gourmet’s team members who were impacted by their closure and encourage them to reach out about the potential of joining our CAVA family,” CAVA communications director Ben Famous said in an email Monday. “This job fair is specifically for those Taylor Gourmet team members impacted by the closure.

Taylor Gourmet closed all of its stores by Sunday, including three in Montgomery County. The news of the job fair was first reported by the Washington City Paper.

The job fairs will be held at CAVA’s Chinatown store location at 707 H St., N.W. and at the Fairfax, Virginia, location at 2905 District Ave. in the Mosaic District. Famous said the company will be hiring positions for team member, grill and management positions for restaurants in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

“These will be open interviews where any Taylor team member can walk-in and meet with a CAVA Manager,” Famous said in a Monday email. “We strongly encourage candidates to apply in advance at www.cava.com/careers.”

The Washington Post reported Friday that the fast-casual hoagie chain lost its funding and will file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy this week. The Montgomery County locations are in Bethesda at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Elm Street, in Silver Spring on Fenton Street and in Pike & Rose. The Pike & Rose store opened in May.

Sales at the 19-store chain slumped after owner Casey Patten met with President Trump as part of a small business roundtable in January 2017. Seventeen of the stores were located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The other two were in Chicago.
