In today’s Tysons, there’s nothing like this proposed dual-tower development

There are massive age-restricted communities in Greater Washington, like Greenspring in Springfield and Leisure World in Silver Spring. There are senior living facilities in Tysons — Tysons Tower, Sunrise of McLean. But there’s nothing like what Evanston, Illinois-based Mather LifeWays is proposing for a site a half of a mile from the McLean Metro station.

Cityline Partners, the master developer behind Arbor Row, has filed an application to nix a pair of planned office buildings within that project in favor of a 668,435-square-foot senior living community. Cityline originally entitled Arbor Row in 2012 for nearly 3 million square feet, but it has changed up the plan several times as it sells of its parcels pad by pad.

The Mather proposal features “two iconic 18 and 27 story towers” up to 285 feet tall, with a stone and masonry podium and aluminum glass storefronts in all directions. The towers, sited on 4 acres, would provide 300 independent living units, 78 assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing beds, and more than 18,000 square feet of retail and restaurants.
