Weekend Events: Rockville Town Square Celebrates 10 Years; One-time One Direction Band Member Performs in Silver Spring

Rockville Town Square turns 10, and to celebrate, the community center is holding an event with live music, entertainment, giveaways and an anniversary toast. A colorful abstract art piece that spans the ice rink will be officially presented.

The free event goes from 6 to 9 p.m.

Sold screening—Saturday—Winston Churchill High School

Students at Winston Churchill have organized a free screening of Sold, a movie about human trafficking. Producer Jane Charles and actress Seirah Royin, along with a panel of experts, will talk about human trafficking in a Q&A session after the movie.

The movie will be screened at 10:30 a.m.

In the last Saturday Family Story Session of the season, Dovie Thomason will lead an interactive storytelling program for kids, featuring music and play. It’s recommended for kids ages 3 to 8.

Tickets are $10 for the 11 a.m. event.

Niall Horan—Saturday night—The Fillmore, Silver Spring

Once one-fifth of the massively popular boy band One Direction, Niall Horan is on his own now and will be performing at The Fillmore on the heels of the late October release of his debut album, Flicker. His solo style is more folksy and acoustic than his earlier work.

The show is sold out, but tickets are available from resale sites for about $100 to $200. The show is at 8 p.m.

Benefit for Puerto Rico—Saturday night—AMP by Strathmore, North Bethesda

Plena and bomba group Plena Libre will perform the Puerto Rican musical style driven by percussion in a benefit concert at AMP. A portion of all ticket sales will go to Hispanic Federation UNIDOS Disaster Relief Fund for those affected by Hurricane Maria.

Tickets are $25 to $75. The concert is at 8 p.m.

Railroadiana—Sunday—Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Gaithersburg

The 40th annual Gaithersburg Railroadiana will feature 600 tables, with thousands of railroad and transportation items for sale. The 12th annual model train show also will take place there.

The all-day event goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $9 per person. Children younger than 12 are admitted at no charge.

Selina Albright and Steve Cole—Sunday night—Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

R&B singer Selina Albright will share the stage with saxophonist Steve Cole in a performance at the Blues & Jazz this Sunday.

Tickets are $30 for the 7:30 p.m. show.
