David Sherer, a Montgomery County native and current Chevy Chase resident, has written his fiction novel debut based out of the area he grew up in.  The thriller is about a DMV doctor who learns of information that leads to him making a ton of money and eventually prompts him to leave the country.

Leading up to his exit from the United States, Sherer references many of his favorite areas from his childhood through present.  Pizzeria da Marco in Bethesda is the setting for one of the novel’s most important scenes.  Other areas his characters visit are Old Anglers Inn in Glen Echo, the Crescent Trail, and Landon Day Camp.  There are 75 to 100 local references included in his new novel.

“Into the Ether” is a thriller that encompasses America’s attitudes towards greed, health, and the stereotypes of those who have gone through criminal justice system.  This novel, which has been nominated for the National Book Award, is the perfect beach read that you won’t want to put down.
