mask requiredOn December 20th DC Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a new public health emergency due to the rise in daily COVID -19 cases.  On December 21st the indoor mask mandate was reinstated and will remain in effect until at least January 31st.  Masks are now required in gyms, restaurants, stores, and offices.

DC Public Schools has also adopted “test to stay” COVID-19 policy which will require students, teachers and staff to test themselves at home prior to returning back to school after the holiday break.  Classes are canceled January 3rd and 4th but schools will be open for families to pick up testing kits for the January 5th return back to classes.  DCPS has 100,000 rapid home kits available, enough for each student, teacher and staff member of each school.  Although the at home testing is not required, the mayor is hoping that all will participate to help stop the spread.
