I-66 Tolls & HOV In Affect

by | Oct 3, 2022

Tolls on the Interstate 66 express lanes in Virginia went into affect on Saturday, September 24th.  The new express lanes are a 9-mile stretch from Route 29 to Route 28 in Centreville and have been free since September 10th.  The price of the toll will be dependent on traffic volume and how fast it’s moving. Travelers can pay the toll through an EZ-Pass, online, in person at the 66 Express Lanes Customer Service or over the phone.  Administrative fees will be applied to all forms that are not EZ-Pass.

Passenger vehicles will pay the same rate where large vehicles and trucks will pay a higher amount.  Motorcyclists can use the express lanes free of charge.  If you don’t want to pay the toll, you must have at least two occupants in the vehicle and use an EZPass Flex on “HOV On” mode.  In December 2022 the remaining thirteen miles of the express lanes to the Capital Beltway will open.
