Limited Metro Service Extended Through November

by | Oct 31, 2021

On October 12th a train on the blue line slipped off the tracks causing the new 7,000-series fleet cars to be removed from service due to safety concerns.  The new cars make up 60% of the metro cars which has led to long delays for metro riders.

After further inspection of the 7,000-series, there is a design flaw that causing the wheels to spread too wide on the axles which makes the cars slip off the tracks.  Metro engineers are working to get older cars back in service to alleviate some of the delays riders are experiencing.  The delays are expected to continue through November.
