Metro’s Earth Day Artist Winners Announced

by | Apr 28, 2023

Metro’s Art in Transit program had a contest a few weeks ago where DMV students were able to submit artwork in celebration of Earth Day with a chance for their art to appear on metro buses.  There were 240 submissions and only 15 chosen from young artists across the region.

Of the fifteen drawings chosen, they included drawings, paintings and digital works that interpret the role public transportation plays in protecting our environment, supporting livable communities and fighting climate change.

The works represent children from kindergarten through sixth grade.  Once an Earth Day bus is put into transit, customers will be able to use a special Metro tracker to locate the bus.  On the tracker, a globe will identify each of these special buses.
