New Amtrak Service from DC to Richmond

Virginia governor, Ralph Northam has announced the expansion of Amtrak service from Richmond to Northeast DC which is the first in the $3.7 billion expansion of service in the “Transforming Rail in Virginia Program.”  The Amtrak train will offer early morning service to get people into DC before the workday begins, as well as two morning departures and one evening.

Over the next ten years, hourly service from Richmond to DC will be available for passengers.  Service will also be added to Newport News and Norfolk.  “This extension will bring trains closer to where people live and work, expanding access and economic opportunity,” said Secretary Valentine.
