NOVA Metro Projects Cause Station Closures This Fall

by | Jun 2, 2022

Two major Metro projects set to start September 10th will cause several stations to be closed for weeks as well as a yellow line shut down for six to eight months.  The start of the projects will link the Potomac Yard station to the Yellow and Blue lines which will require all stations south of Reagan National to be closed until October 22nd.

While the Potomac Yard link is happening, Metro is taking advantage of the downed line to rehab the Yellow Line’s bridge that goes over the Potomac River and the steel-lined tunnels between L’Enfant Plaza and Pentagon stations.  Once the Potomac Yard cutover is complete, the Yellow line will become a separate branch of the Blue line.

Metro will be offering free local and express Yellow and Blue line replacement shuttles as well as free downtown connection shuttles for those heading downtown where the Yellow line usually serves.  A free airport connect shuttle will also be available.
