Organization Provides Farm Fresh Vegetables to Local Schools

by | May 25, 2023

Farm to School Frederick has been providing farm sourced vegetables to school cafeterias since 2018.  The goal of the organization is to teach students where their food comes from, not just a grocery store shelf.  The organization sources its produce from ten to fifteen farms located within Frederick County, all providing different kinds of vegetables.

Although the organization is providing vegetables to eight different Frederick County Public Schools, they’re hoping to expand to more schools within the county.  Farm to School Frederick has recently received grant funding from other local organizations in the county and Maryland offers incentives for schools to source their produce from local farms.
