Pedestrian Only Zone Comes to Adams Morgan

by | Sep 1, 2022

During the pandemic, along with other neighborhoods in DC, Adams Morgan saw a loss in foot traffic and people going out to bars and restaurants.  To help the community DC Officials will block 18th St NW in Adams Morgan to vehicles so patrons can walk freely and discover more of what the neighborhood has to offer one Sunday a month for the next three months.

The section along 18th St NW in Adams Morgan is home to sixty bars, restaurants, stores and a place of worship inside the District of Columbia Arts Center.  Many of the bars in this area are known for being bars and places to meet and hang out with friends so they saw a huge decline in sales during the pandemic.  Many establishment owners and local residents feel these monthly street closures will allow new visitors to the area and allow everyone to see more of what they can experience in the community because when you’re walking, you see more than when you drive through.  And with the fall weather upon us, it’s a great way to get outside and enjoy the day and cooler temperatures.
