Honeygrow, a fast-casual restaurant serving stir-fry and salad, is opening its first Montgomery County location on Thursday in Montrose Crossing.
The restaurant, at 12035 Rockville Pike, will offer customizable bowls with noodles made from scratch and locally sourced vegetables.
Justin Rosenberg, the company’s founder and CEO, said he wanted to Honeygrow to be more than the “million burger places and salad places” and provide a healthy option people would want to come back to.
“That’s one of the big differentiators for us,” he said. “We’re serving really wholesome foods that’s a bit different than what you’d expect from other fast casual concepts.”
Those items include the roasted garlic tahini stir fry—with whole wheat noodles, roast chicken, chickpeas, kale, red onions, garlic tahini sauce and coriander crunch topping—and salads like the Walnut St. noodle, with walnut lemon dressing, whole wheat noodles, arugala, mushrooms, raw cauliflower, roasted walnuts and parmesan crisps.
The chain, which started in Philadelphia in 2012, also serves a “honeybar” of fresh fruits with honey and toppings such as yogurt, dark chocolate chips and coconut shavings.
Honeygrow has restaurants in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. Rosenberg said he’s interested in expanding further in the county and is “looking pretty hard in Bethesda,” as well as Silver Spring.
“As time goes on, as long as we can be successful, there’s no reason to think we wouldn’t be doing more in Montgomery County,” Rosenberg said.
The Rockville restaurant was originally scheduled to open in December but construction took longer than expected, Rosenberg said.
On opening day, the Rockville Pike restaurant will give away free meals to the first 100 guests. After that, $5 of every meal will go toward the Baltimore nonprofit Living Classrooms.
Honeygrow will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., except on Sundays, when it closes at 9 p.m.
