Vote to Add Toll Lanes by American Legion Bridge

by | Oct 5, 2021

Traffic going to and from Maryland and Virginia at the American Legion Bridge has put a burden on drivers and commuters for years.  The Maryland Board of Public Works approved a predevelopment agreement for replacing the American Legion Bridge and creating toll lanes for Interstate 270 and parts of the Capitol Beltway.

“This traffic relief plan is a win for families, commuters and small businesses, and it will finally begin to solve the soul-crushing, worst-in-the-nation traffic that people have failed to address for 50 years,” said Maryland Governor Hogan.  The work would be completed in two phases on I-270, the first to Interstate 370 and then from I-370 to Interstate 70 in Frederick.
