Where to Catch Outdoor Movies in the DMV This Summer

by | May 25, 2023

When it comes to nostalgia, one of America’s best past times is watching a movie outdoors, whether at a drive-in or local park.  There are places all around the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas where you can take in a flick outdoors.

For picnic style outdoor movies, grab your blanket or fold up chairs and catch a movie at the National Harbor, Films at the Stone at the MLK Jr Memorial, Columbia Pike Movie Nights and Outdoor Movies at Westpost in Arlington.  If you prefer a true drive-in feel, check out the Drive-In at Union Market in N.E. DC or Bengies Drive-In Theater in Middle River and watch on the largest movie screen in America.

For something a little different, watch some kid friendly spooky movies on your favorite blanket among the headstones at Congressional Cemetery on the first Friday of the month from June through September.  Adams Morgan Movie Nights take place at Marie Reed Elementary School and have a local comedian warming up the crowd prior to the movie showings.  Wolf Trap movie nights feature a movie with live musical score thanks to the National Symphony Orchestra at the venue’s outdoor amphitheater.
