Why You’re Seeing Insects Earlier This Year

by | May 5, 2022

Certain insects, such as butterflies, tics, beetles, bees and mosquitos, are arriving early this year mostly due to climate change.  Some species are moving north who normally congregate south.

Last year brought about a huge influx of cicadas and this year you might see a few stragglers.  Sometimes you’ll have cicadas that get off cycle by one or four years but there won’t be near as many in the area as last year.

The Monarch butterfly has declined the last few decades but due to conservation efforts to plant certain milkweed plants, their larvae is more apt to survive and we’ll get to see more of the beautiful species.
